Brel - Belgian Pub in the heart of West End

Every student who studies or lives in Glasgow must experience the vibe of the West End- a place that has so much to offer to suit all tastes and budgets. One of the iconic places to visit is Ashton Lane - a hidden gem in the heart of West End, located just behind Byres Road.

The narrow street is filled with fun and cheerful atmosphere, where you can find everything you possibly need for a perfect day or night out. This one little street has got it all, great restaurants, bars, pubs and a beautiful Belgian Pub like Brel, which I have discovered by using one of the Itison deals.

Brel is partnered-up with ITISON- a platform that advertises and sells a wide range of vouchers to promote restaurants, bars, hotels and other local businesses. Taking advantage of the offer, I decided to go ahead and purchase an Itison deal - Mains for Two at Brel. The offer included a Main each and a glass of wine or a pint of Amstel beer for only £15.00. The voucher was valid to use from Monday to Friday, excluding Saturdays. It also had a link and step-by-step guide on how to make an online reservation.

Seafood Paella
The booking process was very straightforward and I managed to reserve a table for a Thursday night at 7.30pmReflecting on the visit, I can say that we extremely enjoyed the dining experience at Brel. Despite the fact that the venue was quite busy we received a very welcoming and friendly service from its staff. In terms of food, we had Moules Frites - Scottish Steamed Mussels served with soda bread, fries and aioli and Seafood Paella - made with pearl barley, squid, prawns, moules and pan-fried Sea trout accompanied with one pint of Amstel beer and a glass of Rose wine.

Both meals were very well presented, fresh and mouth-watering mussels were to die for! After the mains, we ordered delicious Pecan Pie with Salted Caramel ice cream. The dessert wasn’t a part of the deal but it was a perfect note to complete our meal.
Not to mention, I couldn’t believe how beautiful and magical the place was! Along with amazing food and a great selection of craft beers, it has certainly got the most magical venue.

What makes Brel magic:

Brel's beer garden with magically-lit trees feature hundreds of twinkling fairy lights and named one of the UK's most beautiful gardens by Stylist. The venue incorporates a magical Private Dining called “Up”, available for private hire which overlooks the Ashton Lane and has fairy lights and colorful hot air balloons, creating the atmosphere of the fairy tale, cosy Mezzanine with a bar, beautiful Conservatory with access to the Beer Garden, Heated Patio - fully covered and perfect for al fresco dining, beautiful Solarium, and The Brel’s Fire Pit - ideal for celebrations, get-together drinks and marshmallow parties by the fire.

Overall, we had a fantastic night out at Brel and thoroughly enjoyed Belgian cuisine. Stunning Brel has become one of my favorite places to dine due to its amazing food, cosy and magical atmosphere. Most importantly, by using the Itison offer we have managed to save £25.00, which is certainly an amazing deal in terms of price vs quality.
